Description:
The Journal Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production, editorial and promotional
process for the journal. The role includes managing peer reviews, editorial board coordination,
maintaining the quality and advertising and subscription Management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Management:
- Oversee the selection and publication of research articles, technical papers, reviews, and special features.
- Maintain high editorial standards and ensure content quality aligns with the journal’s mission and readership.
- Consult different journals and magazines for relevant articles and write-ups to be reprinted and taking approval for that.
- Soliciting subject specific articles by identifying experts
2. Peer Review Process:
- Manage the entire peer-review process, including the review of paper by the relevant expert, ensuring timely feedback, and making final editorial decisions.
- Ensure timely communication between reviewers and authors for manuscript revisions.
- Track and follow up on reviewer assignments to maintain publication timelines.
3. Editorial Board Coordination:
- Collaborate with the editorial board to shape the journal's strategy, content direction, and focus.
- Schedule and coordinate board meetings, prepare reports, and maintain communication with members.
4. Content Promotion and Marketing:
- Develop strategies to enhance the journal's visibility and reach, increasing its impact factor.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to promote the journal via social media, email newsletters, and conferences.
- Ensuring uploading of journal cover, content page, Presidents Message, Editorial Message,
- Forthcoming Events in website, Linkedin and in App
5. Author Relations and Support:
- Provide guidance and support to authors throughout the submission, revision, and publication processes.
- Communicate clearly regarding manuscript requirements, revisions, and publication timelines.
6. Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all published content complies with ethical standards, including copyright laws and guidelines related to plagiarism or misconduct.
- Monitor adherence to copyright and publishing regulations.
7. Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage the department’s budget
- Oversee purchasing orders for paper and other materials required for the journal’s printing.
8. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and report key performance metrics such as submission rates, publication frequency, and journal impact factor.
- Monitor and report on regional and international events relevant to the journal’s scope.
9. Proofreading and Final Publication Checks:
- Proofread and review the final dummy of the journal before sending it to press.
- Coordinate closely with the printing press for quality control and on-time delivery of both print and digital versions.
10. Administrative and Logistical Support:
- Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping of manuscript submissions, revisions, and publication-related data.
- Oversee the preparation and logistics of both online and print publications.
11. Advertising and Subscription Management:
- Correspond with advertisers regarding new and renewing contracts, advertisements, and invoices.
- Handle advertisement, subscriptions and coordinate with the finance team to process invoices and payments.
- Oversee ERP booking, processing, and receipt generation.
Salary:
5-5.5 lakhs
Qualification: Required Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of academic and industry publishing standards.
- Experience with promotion and marketing strategies for printed publications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferably with science background
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an editorial or publishing role in print media.
- Prior experience of UGC or SCOPUS accreditation
- Experience in Marketing in Print Media
- Photographic acumen
